Horror as man ‘drives crashes into bus stop’ in Germany | World | News


A man has allegedly crashed into a bus stop in a small town, injuring three people. A 32-year-old from Azerbaijan was arrested in Giessen, Germany, as a car was reportedly driven into two other vehicles before continuing into a bus stop on Monday, December 22. The incident, which police said they are treating as an accident, left three people injured, one of them seriously.

A major police operation was underway and the area near St John’s Church was cordoned off. Officers remain unclear over the circumstances that led to the incident. The police force in Central Hesse said: “Around 4.30pm, the driver of an Audi crashed into a bus stop, injuring three people, one of whom sustained serious injuries. 

“Police currently believe the 32-year-old driver had been traveling along Westanlage towards Südanlage.

“At the traffic light at the intersection with Frankfurter Straße, he collided with two cars traveling in the same direction, continued along Südanlage towards Goethestraße, and then crashed into the pedestrians at a bus stop.

“The 32-year-old driver, from Azerbaijan and a resident of Gießen, continued driving along Goethestraße to Johannesstraße, where he stopped and was subsequently arrested by police.

“The exact circumstances of the incident are currently unknown and are the subject of an ongoing investigation.”
