Horror in Ibiza as British tourist run over by a taxi | World | News
A British tourist is said to be in a “very serious” condition after being run over by a taxi in the Ibizan party resort of San Antonio.
The 34-year-old was reportedly hit by the cabbie after falling into the road “drunk”.
The vehicle is said to have driven over him. Ambulance crews treated him at the scene before he was rushed to Can Misses Hospital in the island’s capital.
The near-tragedy happened at around 9.30pm last night. Local reports said the holidaymaker was in a “very serious” condition with multiple injuries when he was assisted at the scene.
He arrived at hospital just before 11pm. His condition this morning was not immediately clear.
It’s been a busy 24 hours at the hospital, after overnight sources at Can Misses confirmed a 70-year-old British man remained in a “critical condition” after getting into difficulties in the sea off the paradise Spanish island of Formentera.
He was pulled out of the water at picture-postcard Ses Illetes beach by lifeguards who performed life-saving CPR on him.
Emergency responders stabilised him on the sand before an ambulance took him initially to the island hospital.
Doctors then decided he should be flown by helicopter to Can Misses Hospital in Ibiza given the seriousness of his condition.
The incident occurred just after 3.30pm yesterday afternoon.
