How to look younger: Anti-ageing practice makes ‘significant difference’ to your hands
Hand care often gets overlooked when it comes to anti-ageing treatments, but what many people don’t know is that it is an important step in any skincare routine.
In an interview with GB News, a skincare expert shared tips on how women can reduce ageing in this often-neglected area.
She recommended that applying a broad-spectrum SPF daily should be a crucial part of any hand care routine – and for good reason.
Adele O’Donoghue, holistic therapist and head of education at SBC Skincare, said: “Hands age faster than the face due to constant exposure to environmental stressors like UV rays, harsh chemicals and frequent washing.
“The skin on our hands is thinner and has less fat, making it more susceptible to dryness and damage and, unlike our faces, hands are often neglected in skin care routines, accelerating signs of ageing such as wrinkles, age spots and loss of elasticity.”
And it turns out, maintaining a youthful appearance is not as difficult or costly as it may seem.
The skincare pro suggested: “To minimise existing signs of ageing, consider a combination of targeted treatments and healthy habits.
“Exfoliate gently once a week to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover.
“Additionally, maintaining a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, staying hydrated and avoiding smoking can significantly improve skin health.
“Remember, your hands are the first indicator of ageing so treating them with the care they deserve will help to keep them looking nourished, healthy, youthful and radiant.”
And to have a glow-looking complexion, skincare experts at Landys Chemist have shared how you can achieve “stunning glass-like skin” with a simple step.
The experts said: “Double cleansing is the pivotal first step in achieving that glass skin look.
“Begin your skincare routine by using an oil-based cleanser to wash away any makeup, impurities or excess oil.
“Using an oil-based cleanser will help to break down makeup and sebum, lifting impurities without stripping the skin of its natural oils, allowing you to just wipe them away.”
