‘I’m a cinema worker – weirdest thing I saw someone bring still haunts me’
We’re all guilty of sneaking the odd sweetie into the cinema… right?
Amidst the cost-of-living crisis, spending an extra £10 on top of your ticket for a bag of bland popcorn is simply unafforable for most Brits. Therefore, many of us have resorted to bringing our own snacks to feast on, inevitably ddevouring them before the movie actually starts.
Most cinemas in the UK allow cold snacks to be brought it. Hot food, alcohol, and ‘pungent’ food however tend to be prohibited from most screens – including Odeon and Cineworld. However, Sandra Knopfler who works at a cinema in Spain, says people have strected the rules a little too far.
“Someone ordered from a Burger King and told the delivery guy which screen and seat he had to go to,” Sandra said on X (formerly known as Twitter).
She added that she didn’t necessarily have a problem with him bringing his own food into the cinema, but questioned whether a delivery driver should be allowed into the room to deliver the order. Hundreds of tickled users flocked to the comments sectionn to share their thoughts, with many in stitches at the man’s bold move.
“What a genius,” one person raved. Another agreed, arguing the man is ‘years ahead’ of everyone else. A third added: “This is incredible.”
However, not everybody was left impressed by the fast-food stunt, with many blasting the BK lover for being ‘selfish’ and disrupting the film for others.
“You have to be extremely ignorant to do that,” raged one user. Another agreed, scathing: “That’s why I haven’t been to the cinema for years, and it’s a shame because I love it. I miss the cinema staff controlling those things.”
