Iran’s Kharg Island ‘on fire’ as Trump threatens devastation across Iran | World | News

Kharg Island is “on fire” as NASA FIRM detects multiple blazes amid US attacks.

US troops conducted strikes on military targets on Iran’s Kharg Island, Axios news outlet also reported, citing an unidentified senior US official. Mr Trump has threatened to wipe out Iran by blowing up all of its bridges and power plants in just four hours on Tuesday night.

Writing on Truth Social on Easter Sunday, the US President had set Iran a deadline of 8pm ET tomorrow night (1am BST Wednesday) to make a deal with the US ot else face “living hell”. On Easter Monday, the US President started his press conference by saying Iran could be “taken out in one night”, which might be as soon as “tomorrow night”. He said: “The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night could be tomorrow night.”

These messages came after Mr Trump’s foul-mouthed Truth Social rant over the weekend, Mr Trump gave Tehran until tomorrow to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, or further strikes would be launched. Threatening Iran on Truth Social, the US President said: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!

Another threat was issued today (Tuesday, 7 April), when he wrote on the social media platform: “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”

A US official also confirmed the US strikes on Kharg Island. He said the American military hit dozens of Iranian military targets on Kharg Island overnight. The location is a major oil export hub for Iran and has previously been discussed as a possible location for a US ground operation.

Meanwhile, Iran has stopped all negotiation efforts with the US over a possible deal to end the Middle East war. The IRGC issued a warning to neighboring countries saying “restraint is over“.

A spokesperson said: “We will target U.S.-affiliated infrastructure in a manner that will deprive America and its allies of the region’s oil and gas for years. And U.S. regional partners should know that until now, and due to neighborly goodwill, we have exercised a great degree of restraint and taken considerations into account in selecting retaliation targets, but from now on, all these considerations have been lifted.”
