The pressure will be on Thomas Tuchel and his England side tonight in their opening 2026 World Cup qualifying match at Wembley. Some five months after being announced as Gareth Southgate’s successor, the German boss knows nothing less than three points will do against Albania.
That’s followed by another eminently winnable home game against Lativa on Monday. After springing some surprises in his first squad, there has already been plenty of scrutiny on the 51-year-old. However, while positive results on the pitch will inevitably win over fans, Tuchel’s private life is also likely to be in the limelight, given the media furore that so often surrounds an England manager.

Is Thomas Tuchel married?
No. Or, more to the point, not anymore. Tuchel married his wife Sissi, with whom he has two daughters, in 2009 and she would become a devoted supporter of her husband’s career.
When he left Dortmund in 2017, she reportedly went to Paris ahead of him to find a suitable home for the family and was a valuable advisor to her husband. However, in April 2022, it emerged that the couple were divorced, citing irreconcilable differences.
Who is his new girlfriend?
Just three months after news of his divorce proceedings became public, Tuchel was pictured with a new partner. While still in charge at Chelsea, he was seen on a boat in Sardinia with Brazilian model Natalie Max.
Like Tuchel, Max has two daughters from a previous relationship. Given that she has a three-story property in Knightsbridge – an area just two miles away from the stadium – it is easy to see how the pair met while he worked at Stamford Bridge.
Max is a director of the business consultancy company Natexo, a position she’s held since 2014. As of October last year, she was reportedly 37, 13 years younger than the former Bayern Munich boss.
It is fair to say that despite her previous profession in modelling, Max isn’t one for the limelight, though. She seemingly has no public social media profiles and has minimal interaction with the British media.
