‘I’ve played Littler and Humphries – one is much more professional’ | Other | Sport
Beau Greaves has claimed that Luke Humphries acts more “professional” on stage than Luke Littler, and that it felt “more serious” to go up against ‘Cool Hand’ compared to ‘The Nuke’.
Greaves – who is set to go up against Daryl Gurney in her second PDC World Darts Championship game next week – has faced the top two players in the world this year.
The 21-year-old took on Littler in both Players Championship 24 and the World Youth Championship. Littler, 18, won the first game 6-5 at the PC event before Greaves edged him out by the same scoreline in the second affair.
Meanwhile, Greaves played Humphries, ranked as no.2 in the world behind Littler, at the UK Open back in February. Despite averaging more than 92, she succumbed to a 10-7 defeat.
When asked what it is like to play against Littler and Humphries, Greaves told talkSPORT Drive: “Littler is different. Littler is a young lad. He’s just a lad. Like it’s kind of a different vibe playing him.
“Humphries is like your more serious professional. Littler is more like he likes to mess around a little bit. They’ve got different attitudes towards the game, but obviously they’re both brilliant players.
“I think playing Humphries felt more serious… they’re both nice, great lads, but Littler is just younger.”
Greaves’ opponent at the 2026 World Championship is none other than Northern Irishman Gurney, who is ranked 22nd in the PDC Order of Merit.
Speaking ahead of his first-round tie against three-time WDF World Champion Greaves, Gurney told Online Darts: “I did not really see it (the draw) at the time because I was flying but my phone started lighting up.
“Nobody wants to play Beau. Beau is a great dart player like everybody else that is playing in the World Championships.
“The way I look at it is to be the best you have got to beat the best. I am playing a great dart player and I plan to put on a good show and give it a real good go.
“It will be a hard game because she is good every time. The atmosphere will be electric on both sides.”
As for Littler, he goes up against Darius Labanauskas on night one of the World Championship.
Humphries, meanwhile, is set to face Ted Evetts on Saturday night. Littler is the favourite to win the tournament for the second successive year.
