James Maddison injury update as Tottenham star teases ‘getting there’ | Football | Sport
On Wednesday, Maddison shared a 57-second TikTok clip documenting his journey to Manchester for additional tests and exercises to assist with the concluding phases of rehabilitation. He captioned the post: “ACL testing after 6 months. Effffffin cool.”
Across several clips from the day, he said: “Morning people, off to Manchester today so the Mumsy is giving me a lift, just like old times. Six months post-ACL reconstruction and we’re off to Manchester to do some testing in this cool room with loads of cameras and sensors.
“There is places in London you can do it but this one had the best reviews and I know players that used it in the past. Basically, I had loads of sensors stuck all over my body. You do some jogging, jumping, change of direction and hopping and they will check on the camera how your body is moving to see if I’m offloading the knee?
“Am I weight-distributing both sides equally? It’s all valuable information as it shapes the rest of the rehab of what I need to work. We’re six months in and we’re getting there.”
Maddison is one of several Tottenham stars currently sidelined due to injury, but Igor Tudor has received some significant boosts over the past week. Alongside positive outcomes against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, Destiny Udogie, Cristian Romero, Conor Gallagher and Lucas Bergvall all made a comeback from injury in the latter match.
The atmosphere around Spurs has markedly improved as a result of those two matches, and things could further improve this Sunday. Nottingham Forest are set to visit Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and it’s a crucial relegation six-pointer.
The Lilywhites are on 30 points with Forest and West Ham just one point behind, although the latter are in the relegation zone due to goal difference. Victories for either Spurs or Forest could catapult them above Leeds United.
Joao Palhinha could make an appearance this weekend against Forest if he clears concussion protocols. He was training separately from the squad ahead of the Champions League last-16 clash against Atletico. Maddison was also spotted training solo at Hotspur Way.
Players such as Mohammed Kudus, Ben Davies and Wilson Odobert are all on the mend, with the latter targeting a return in late 2026. Dejan Kulusevski is another who is unlikely to play this season, having already missed the last 10 months due to a serious knee problem.
Sweden manager Graham Potter provided an update on his fitness ahead of national team fixtures against Sweden and Romania. He stated: “Dejan is making progress but not as quickly as we would have liked.”
