Jamie Redknapp banned from driving after two speeding offences in matter of months | Football | Sport
Jamie Redknapp has been slapped with a 12-month driving ban for speeding. The former footballer pleaded guilty in advance of the hearing for exceeding speeding limits and was also handed a fine.
Redknapp’s case was heard at Bexley Magistrates Court, but the current Sky Sports pundit wasn’t in attendance after pleading guilty in advance. The ex-Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur star was snapped by a camera doing 26mph in a 20mph zone near the junction of Westleigh Avenue, Putney, in June 2024.
He also admitted to going over the 50mph speed limit on the M4 near Reading in November 2024, with Redknapp said to have been driving at 58mph. Bench chairwoman Daniele Spens said: “As a totter for the second time the defendant is disqualified from driving for twelve months from now and the total fines and costs has to be paid within twenty-eight days and we make a collection order.”
Redknapp was ordered to pay costs of £608, and the hearing at Bexley Magistrates on Monday took 10 minutes. The court was also told that Redknapp had been given a six-month disqualification from driving in 2021.
The former England international, who lives in west London, already had 12 points on his licence prior to the two speeding counts last year.
Redknapp started his professional career at AFC Bournemouth in the early 1990s before earning a move to Liverpool in 1991. He spent the majority of his time as a footballer in Merseyside, featuring over 300 times for the club, scoring 42 goals and registering a further 31 assists.
During his 11-year stint with Liverpool, Redknapp was part of the team that won the 1994 League Cup, as well as the Charity Shield and UEFA Cup in 2001. Following his time with the Anfield outfit, Redknapp moved to Tottenham, where he made a further 49 senior appearances across a three-year stint before finishing his career with Southampton in 2005.
Redknapp is the son of former FA Cup-winning manager Harry Redknapp and the cousin of Chelsea legend Frank Lampard. He married singer Louise Nurding in 1998, with whom he had two sons before their divorce in 2017. Redknapp is now married to model Frida Andersson, whom he wed in 2021.
