Jealous woman makes ‘husband take a lie detector test every time he goes out’

A woman, known as the “world’s most jealous woman”, made her husband take lie detector tests every time he went out. This all started because he was dating someone else before they officially became a couple.

Trust is key in any healthy relationship, but it’s normal to have small doubts now and then. While most people would ignore these feelings, one woman confessed that she would make her husband take a lie detector test each time he went out to show he hadn’t done anything wrong.

Debbi Wood earned the title of the “world’s most jealous woman” because her husband Steve has to follow her strict rules. They discussed this on an episode of ITV’s This Morning back in 2013.

The idea of the lie detector test came about after Steve casually mentioned that he hadn’t done anything wrong and would “even take a lie detector to prove it,” which led his wife to buy one.

A year later, they reported they had eased off on their rigorous testing schedule. Steve stated that now they use the tests “as many times in a month as [they] would in a week” and sometimes “even less than that” and added it’s “more like once in a blue moon”.

They also confessed that Steve has restrictions on his TV watchlist, ensuring his wife doesn’t fear him “eyeing up women”. Debbi shared with The Mail, saying: “One night, an advert for a women’s razor came on television and I felt panicky thinking that Steve was eyeing the model up. The only thing that could put my mind at rest was banning him from watching any programmes that have women in them.”

She further explained her insecurity around men admiring other women, stating while she can “understand a man admiring somebody that’s beautiful because all women have an inner beauty and an outer beauty” her issue is when men start “sexually fantasising” about other women – something she doesn’t want Steve to do.

Debbi shared that she endured a “previous traumatic relationship” which resulted in her struggles with jealousy, further intensified by her diagnosis of a “recognised medical condition” known as Othello Syndrome. According to the National Library of Medicine, this is a “psychotic disorder characterised by the delusion of infidelity or jealousy; it often occurs in the context of medical, psychiatric or neurological disorders.”

Despite the restrictions in their marriage impacting them both, Steve was quick to say: “When we’re not arguing about this, our relationship is absolutely amazing. I make her laugh in ways she’s never laughed before. She makes me laugh in ways I’ve never laughed before.”
