If scampering around Coachella’s polo grounds this year taught me anything, it’s that Western looks are in (thank you, Beyoncé), and the trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. While I wouldn’t necessarily find myself donning a cowboy hat on a random Tuesday night before heading out to dinner with my girlfriends, I can absolutely envision myself in a pair of Western-themed boots. Cowboy boots would be an easy choice, but before you hit “add to cart” on the pair you’ve been eyeing, allow me to introduce you to something I guarantee you’re going to like even better.

Free People teamed up with the shoe brand Jeffery Campbell and the leather-goods brand Understated Leather to create the shoe of my (and probably your) dreams. Enter: the Jeffrey Campbell x Free People x Understated Leather Motoboy Boot ($348). Yes, the name is a mouthful, but as soon as I saw a photo of them online, I knew I was going to be obsessed. Ever since I received them, they’ve had me in an absolute chokehold, and for good reason. The quality is perfection, they’re comfortable, and they can be styled with virtually anything in my closet.

They’re one part moto boot, one part cowboy boot, and all around great for dancing, walking, and just general frolicking, which I am going to find myself doing a lot of in the coming months.

What I Like About the Jeffrey Campbell x Free People x Understated Leather Motoboy Boots

First and foremost, the number one thing I noticed about these boots when I took them out of their box was the quality. They’re made of thick, heavy leather, and I could feel how well-constructed they are as soon as I touched them. However, although they’re sturdy, they aren’t uncomfortable to walk in. I’ve found that most boots take a breaking-in period, but I didn’t have that problem with these. So far, I’ve worn them out to dinner, to a concert, and to an outdoor picnic, all with zero issues. I’ve done quite a bit of walking in them, and I haven’t had to deal with blisters or chafing (although I should note that I make sure to wear a pair of thick socks with them).

The design is also utter perfection. They’re essentially a motorcycle boot with Western-inspired stitching, which makes them an easy grab when I’m heading out of the house, no matter what I’m wearing. Plus, the harness on the shoes is removable, so if you want to opt for a more pared-down look, you can do that as well. The design is unique enough that I get tons of “where did you get those?” questions whenever I’m out and about, but it’s also simple enough to be a staple shoe in my closet.

I haven’t yet had a chance to wear them to a festival, but I already know they’re going to be my go-to shoe for any occasion where I need to walk a lot and still look fashionable at the same time.

What’s Worth Noting About the Jeffrey Campbell x Free People x Understated Leather Motoboy Boots

The boots come in two color options, black and brown, both of which are stunning. I had a hard time choosing between the two options, but I ended up going with black because the majority of my wardrobe is the same shade. If you’re having a hard time picking, I’d suggest thinking about what color will go best with the rest of the clothes in your closet.

I was a little stressed when it came to sizing, because I didn’t try on the shoes in person, but I went with my typical size 8. The boot fits well, even with a thick sock, but I probably could have sized up half a size for a little more room. Boots are often a hit or miss for me because of the size of my legs, but I still had extra room around my 14.5-inch calves once I slipped these on.

Who Are the Jeffrey Campbell x Free People x Understated Leather Motoboy Boots Best For?

The design of these boots is so versatile that I’d suggest them for essentially anyone. Whether you’re looking for comfortable boots you can wear all day long at a music festival, a standout pair to wear to a concert, or boots that match virtually any outfit, these would be my pick. They’re the perfect mix of a motorcycle boot and a cowboy boot, and look cute with everything from jeans to dresses to shorts.

Although I’ve styled them in numerous ways, I think my favorite way to wear them in the coming months is going to be with a pair of boxer shorts, a white tank, and an oversized leather jacket. Casual, but still chic.
