Liverpool boss Arne Slot confirms two new arrivals and shares private Jurgen Klopp chat | Football | Sport

Arne Slot confirmed that Liverpool will soon announce two new arrivals in his first press conference as the Reds’ new manager. The Dutchman is about to embark on his debut season in English football after replacing Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout.

Slot has already been joined by some familiar faces, with two of his Feyenoord coaches also making the switch to Merseyside. Sipke Hulshoff will serve as Liverpool‘s new assistant manager, while Ruben Peeters is taking on the role of lead physical performance coach.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Slot revealed that Liverpool are close to making two more additions to their backroom staff with an announcement set to be made in due course.

He said: “We’re expecting two others to join. A couple more announcements in the near future.”

Slot was also quizzed on whether he has spoken to Klopp, who led Liverpool fans in chanting the name of their new manager during his Anfield farewell at the end of last season.

“We’ve spoken about many things, but they stay between us,” said Slot. “Him singing for me was special. I was fortunate at Feyenoord that they sung for me. Fans already singing for me is a good start.”

Slot’s first game in charge of Liverpool will be at Portman Road, with the Reds travelling to newly-promoted Ipswich Town on the opening weekend. For now, he is still learning the ropes and taking in what it means to be managing one of the biggest clubs in world football.

“It will take some time to understand everything,” he explained. “I will use my time to make the team in the best possible way for the first game. It helps if you get to know the city, but it helps if you win most of your games.

“One of the reasons they came to me is our playing style is not so different. We wants fans to come to the stadium and see a team with a lot of energy. That is what I am focused on most. [I have] big shoes to fill but you inherit a squad with a winning culture.

“I feel we have a really good team. You want to work at a club with good players and an opportunity to win something. The past shows Liverpool can win trophies. There is an opportunity to win something. I like to win and at this club there is an opportunity to win.”
