Liverpool can make three signings with Mohamed Salah money after Saudi transfer | Football | Sport

Mohamed Salah could be nearing the end of his Liverpool career after claiming he is being thrown “under the bus” by the Reds. The Egypt international made his remarks after failing to make it onto the pitch during his side’s 3-3 draw with Leeds on Saturday. And he has been left out of the Liverpool squad for their Champions League encounter with Inter Milan following his outburst.

Salah has been pursued by clubs in the Saudi Pro League in recent seasons but opted to extend his stay at Anfield by signing a new contract in the summer. However, his suitors may not decide to move for him once again in January in a transfer that could work well for all parties. Liverpool may still be able to command a £70million transfer fee for the Egypt international, while the Reds would also save around £30m in wages if the 33-year-old leaves in the New Year instead of at the end of his contract.

Express Sport takes a look at three players the club could sign with the extra money they would have at their disposal if Salah goes…

Marc Guehi

Liverpool missed out on signing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi in the summer after Oliver Glasner blocked his exit just before the transfer window slammed shut.

But Guehi is out of contract at the end of the season and has already informed the Eagles that he will be moving on.

Liverpool desperately need to firm up their defence following a series of lacklustre showings at the back. And Reds chiefs could decide to throw £30m at Palace in an attempt to get a deal done in January.

Angelo Stiller

Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller is a man in demand, with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid said to be interested in signing him.

The Germany international was linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer, with Reds boss Arne Slot said to be impressed by the player’s tactical maturity. And the Premier League giants may feel the 24-year-old could bring some calmness to the team during the second-half of the campaign.

Stuttgart are believed to value the star at £44m, a figure that would be comfortably covered by the money raised from Salah’s departure.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite bringing in a host of attacking players in the summer, Liverpool have struggled in front of goal at times this season. Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak are yet to find their feet, with Slot’s side suffering as a result.

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo has been a standout player in the Premier League this season and is attracting plenty of interest from rival clubs after bagging six goals and three assists in 14 top-flight appearances.

The 25-year-old has a release clause of £65million in his Cherries contract which can be activated during the early part of the January transfer window. So if Liverpool sell Salah and negotiate deals for Guehi and Stiller, they can put the rest of the money towards triggering Semenyo’s release clause, with the rest of the funds coming from money they already have in the transfer kitty.
