Liverpool are monitoring the winter transfer market as the January window nears its conclusion in the coming days. The Reds may seek to strengthen several areas of their squad, particularly in defence. Arne Slot’s defending Premier League champions have found themselves lacking options at centre-half, whilst additional depth is also needed in their forward line.
At present, Slot’s team remains amongst the top-four challengers, which he has acknowledged is their adjusted objective for the campaign’s end, securing Champions League football once again as they pursue a seventh European triumph. Here’s the latest developments from Anfield.
Micky van de Ven price tag
Tottenham have placed a £100million price tag on Micky van de Ven this summer, amid speculation connecting him with a move to Liverpool.
As reported by talkSPORT, the north London club would seek a world-record fee for a defender should they contemplate selling the Dutchman, 24.
The report suggests Van de Ven is keen to leave Spurs in the forthcoming transfer window, despite having a contract until 2029. Liverpool have been identified as possible candidates for the centre-back, who has impressed with his defensive abilities and remarkable pace since his arrival.
Doubts persist about whether the Reds will be able to spend heavily again this summer, having already committed £450m to new recruits last year. Reinforcing the defence remains an urgent priority, as Slot currently lacks sufficient options at this vital position.
Ibrahima Konate has just months remaining on his existing contract and seems increasingly likely to depart, whilst Virgil van Dijk is nearing the latter stages of his career. Marc Guehi had previously been on their radar and nearly completed a move last summer, but has since joined rivals Manchester City.

Mo Salah transfer interest
Saudi Arabian clubs continue to hold a strong interest in signing Mohamed Salah, with the possibility of making a summer offer for the Liverpool forward.
The Telegraph claim that enquiries were submitted about the Egyptian’s availability during the January transfer window, although these overtures have not yet elicited any favourable response from the Merseyside outfit.
Speculation linking Salah, 33, with a transfer to the Saudi Pro League has persisted for months, but discussion of a possible Anfield exit intensified late last year.
Adam Wharton to Liverpool opportunity
Liverpool are among the clubs showing significant interest in Adam Wharton ahead of a possible summer exit from Crystal Palace.
The 21-year-old England international has caught the eye of major clubs, including Real Madrid and Manchester United, with growing speculation that he could be the next player to leave Selhurst Park.
Liverpool would be willing to submit an £80m bid for Wharton, should the opportunity arise to strengthen their midfield ranks.
