Lloyds Bank tells customers ‘check your inbox’ over £250 payments | Personal Finance | Finance
To get the extra funds, you need to move your current account over to a new account with Lloyds. This can be either a Club Lloyds, a Club Lloyds Silver or a Club Lloyds Platinum account.
You need to complete your switch using the Current Account Switch Service, including closing your old account. Your switch must include at least three active direct debits.
Once you have complete all the necessary steps, the payment will land in your account within 40 working days of your switch, and will appear as a cash credit. As bank customers may be thinking of moving over to Lloyds to bag the cash, one customer said they were having an issue making their switch.
Writing to Lloyds on social media, the person said they had started a switch in the app, including successfully submitting their application. Yet things had all gone quite since then.
The person said that “I never got an email or anything” to confirm the switch was in progress. Lloyds responded to explain some of the timeframes involved.
The bank said: “After submitting a switch application in the app, you should receive a confirmation email. Please check your spam/junk folder if you haven’t received it yet. The switch process usually takes up to seven working days to complete.”
But the customer said they were aware this is how the process is supposed to work. They asked: “Is there any other way to check? I had put in all the details of the account to switch and I had got as far as possible with no more buttons appearing/boxes to fill I’m sure it said checks would be done?”
Lloyds then provided some further guidance. The bank told the customer: “If you didn’t receive a confirmation email, the best way to check your switch status is by contacting our Switcher Team for personal customers on 0345 604 9956. They’ll be able to assist you further.”
This phone line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm but is closed on the weekends. Time is of the essence if you want to get the £250 bonus from Lloyds. You need to open your new account and start your switch by February 3 to qualify for the offer.
