Lucifer’s Tom Ellis re-teams with Netflix for star-studded blockbuster | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV
Lucifer star Tom Ellis has joined the already A-list cast of Netflix’s highly anticipated adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman.
He joins a stellar list of British talent bringing the bestseller to life, helmed by Harry Potter director Chris Columbus.
The streamer has already confirmed screen royalty Helen Mirren, Ben Kingsley, Pierce Brosnan and Celia Imrie will lead the cast.
They will also be joined by Doctor Who favourite David Tennant, The Crown’s Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
Netflix has now confirmed another three exciting additions, including Oscar nominee Richard E Grant, Ingrid Oliver and Lucifer lead Tom.
Geoff Bell, Paul Freeman and Sarah Niles have also been cast.
Fans were ecstatic to see Welsh star Tom landing another high-profile role after the hit fantasy drama came to a bittersweet conclusion three years ago.
“Well Hell-o you! [devil emoji] #TomEllis,” one Lucifer enthusiast exclaimed on X (formerly Twitter).
Another wrote: “Something good is happening! We are waiting for details, hoping for a good role.”
“richard e grant and tom ellis in the thursday murder club i’m FOAMING at the mouth,” said a third excited social media user.
“Omg what an amazing addition to the already fantastic cast! Can’t wait,” someone else applauded.
“I saw Tom Ellis and The Thursday Murder Club. I am in!!!” a fifth comment said, and another agreed: “Read Tom Ellis and was in straight away.”
Filming on the upcoming murder mystery film is currently underway, based on Richard’s hit series following a group of retired friends who solve unsolved crimes for fun.
The author previously called the cast “the greatest British cast assembled since the [Harry Potter] movies.”
He has also opened up about the casting of his wife Ingrid, revealing it was “not my idea” on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast.
The Thursday Murder Club does not yet have a release date.
