Luis Diaz’s stance as Liverpool receive £45m transfer bid from Bayern Munich | Football | Sport

Luis Diaz is said to be keen to join Bayern Munich this summer after the German club reportedly tabled a bid for the winger. The Colombia international starred as the Reds won the Premier League title last season and bagged 13 goals and seven assists in 36 league matches.

Liverpool signed Diaz from Porto at the start of 2022 in a deal worth £45million. And the 28-year-old has impressed in the north west as he has contributed 41 goals and 23 assists in 148 appearances for the Reds. His performances in England have brought him plenty of admirers, with Saudi Pro League teams Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal interested in signing him and Barcelona also in the mix to acquire his services. But Liverpool have reportedly told Barcelona that the player is not for sale.

Bayern Munich have been linked with Diaz’s signature as well this summer after winning the Bundesliga title by 13 points last season.

And, according to Bild Sport, the club have submitted a £45m offer for the player. The outlet have also claimed that Diaz wants to join the German club.

Diaz has just two years remaining on his current deal at Anfield and would be able to depart for free at the end of his contract if he doesn’t pen fresh terms.

But last month it was reported that the English team were eager to capitalise on his peak years and would prefer to lose him for nothing rather than cash in on him now for a price they’re not happy with.

Diaz spoke out while he was on international duty with Colombia last month as he explained: “We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs, and that’s normal given the transfer market that’s opening. We’re trying to arrange what’s best for us.

“We’re talking to clubs, it’s normal in the market and we’re looking at what’s best for us. I’m waiting to see what happens.

“I’m very happy at Liverpool, I’ve always said so. They’ve welcomed me very well from day one. If they give us a good renewal or I stay there for two years, I’ll be happy. Now it’s up to them.”

And he recently told Colombian influencer Mauricio Gomez: “We’re there, negotiating. We’ll see what can be achieved, for us and for the club. We’ll try to do our best and make the best decision.”

After being pushed on the interest from the Saudi Pro League clubs, he added: “We’re in the process of negotiations, talking with the club, with Liverpool, with everyone who’s approaching us.

“But I’m very calm where I am, you know, very happy. Trying to make the best decision now.”
