Luke Littler lands new job on Channel 4 show this week with celeb pal | Other | Sport

Luke Littler is best known for hitting 180s, reeling in the big fish and smashing nine darters on the big stages, but the sporting sensation has bagged himself a new gig with Channel 4. Littler’s rapid rise has seen him go from an unassuming teen to the face of darts in fewer than two years, with his stock continuing to rise by the week.

As a result of his breakthrough 2024 World Darts Championship campaign, where Littler reached the final on debut, and then victory at Ally Pally a year later, popularity and interest in the Warrington-based arrowsmith began to grow. The Jonathan Ross show, Bullseye and A League of Their Own were just some of the big-name television shows Littler was on the panel for.

But his foray into the world of television is set to continue this week, when he appears on the Gogglebox couch for a celebrity special. Littler will join close friend and internet personalty Angry Ginge, with an Instagram post from the official Gogglebox account reading: “We’ve only gone and got @lukethenukelittler and @angryginge13 on #CelebrityGogglebox tomorrow!”

Speaking in the accompanying social media post, Angry Ginge said: “Me and the Nuke have joined the Gogglebox family, on Channel 4 this Friday at nine o’clock. Make sure you watch it.” Littler, a man of few words, sat in the background with a smile on his face, nodding along.

While the show will be pre-recorded, it’s set to air in the middle of Littler’s World Cup of Darts campaign, which gets underway in Germany this weekend. It’s the first time the 2024 Premier League champion is competing in the tournament, with Littler set to pair up with England team-mate and darts rival Luke Humphries for the two-person event.

All eyes will be on how Littler handles himself in front of the German crowd, having previously threatened to never return to play in the country after receiving stick from the fans. Reflecting on the incident and looking ahead to the World Cup, Littler said: “I wouldn’t say it’s upset me but I would say I was obviously a bit angry (at the way I played).”

At the time, Littler posted a fiery message on Instagram, revealing he planned to skip the next event in Germany. It was quickly deleted by the darts icon, and speaking recently, he said: “I did what Gerwyn Price always does – go on Instagram, have a bit of a moan and take it down half an hour later. Obviously for myself, with so many followers on social media, so many people see it before you delete it.”
