Man Utd hero Amad shows true colours during celebrations moments after Man City win | Football | Sport

Amad produced his latest heroics for Manchester United to snatch an incredible derby victory against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. And the red-hot winger showed his true colours moments with his actions after the final whistle during wild celebrations on the pitch and in a rapturous away end.

United were at risk of a third consecutive Premier League defeat for the first time in almost a decade after Josko Gvardiol’s first-half header.

But Ruben Amorim‘s side remained competitive throughout the 195th Manchester derby and found their reward at the death.

Amad smartly drew a foul inside the box to win a penalty, which Bruno Fernandes cooly converted, seemingly earning United a point.

But the 22-year-old’s acceleration and quick feet saw him latch onto a Lisandro Martinez long ball two minutes later, round Ederson and slot home a stoppage-time winner.

After full-time, uncontrolled jubilation erupted in the away end as United’s staff and players absorbed their monumental triumph on the pitch.

However, Amad took time to shake hands with and console every City player, proving his class that wasn’t up for debate anyway.

Before receiving the Player of the Match award in his post-match interview, the Ivorian starlet displayed another showcase of humility.

“We wanted to win this game. It was not easy. In the second half, we pressed good, we wanted to win, and we showed today that we can win any game,” Amad told Sky Sports.

“I want to thank god for this. Let’s enjoy it today and look forward to the next game.”

Fernandes stood alongside his fellow attacker and branded him “unstoppable” when he was at his best.

He added: “He has been doing well, he has been doing great things, and there is still a lot to come from him.

“He showed again today he is always alive. That is why he gets the penalty and why he gets the goal. He has been brilliant. When he is like this, he is unstoppable.

“I just want him to keep working. That is what he has been doing. It is great what he did today but I am sure he can do this every week. We want this week in, week out. He is now getting his chances, deservedly.”

Amorim will know the scale of talent he has on his hands with his No. 16 but urged calm about his season so far in a level-headed post-match interview.

“He can play different positions. He is very humble,” Amorim explained.

“We have to be very careful with Amad because sometimes, in our club, we put young players in a special place. Let’s stay calm with Amad.”
