Man Utd: Jadon Sancho ‘strikes transfer agreement’ as £73m flop nears permanent exit | Football | Sport

Jadon Sancho has reached an agreement on personal terms with Fenerbahce in a significant step towards a Manchester United exit, according to reports. The 25-year-old is claimed to be nearing a permanent departure, spelling the end of a failed £73million transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.

United have placed Sancho in the shop window alongside Marcus Rashford, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho as part of a ruthless attacking overhaul. Chelsea paid a £5m fine to back out of a £25m buy obligation they included in his season-long loan contract earlier this summer, sending him back to Old Trafford.

Sancho has since been linked with Serie A duo Napoli and Juventus, but Fenerbahce have reportedly stolen a march in the race for his signature.

According to Turkish outlet Sabah Spor, the England international has accepted a contract offer worth around £8.5m per year.

The report adds that Fenerbahce will now start negotiations with United over a transfer fee, and they are expected to conclude a deal.

Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has used an array of former Premier League players since landing in Istanbul last summer.

Dusan Tadic, Edin Dzeko, Caglar Soyuncu, Allan Saint-Maximin and former United midfield duo Sofyan Amrabat and Fred featured prominently last season.

And now the ex-Red Devils manager has reportedly helped send his old employers towards a crucial sale in a summer where they require several.

Despite Sancho’s return after rejection from Chelsea, the winger’s future clearly lies away from Manchester following four problematic years.

With no European football on offer at Old Trafford next season, United have been backed to host an exodus of high-earning, underperforming players.

Amorim also needs sales to boost his transfer budget, which is limited to facilitating the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Cunha is already through the door, joining from Wolves in a £62.5m switch. Brentford’s Mbeumo looks set to follow him for a similar fee.

Beyond the impressive Premier League duo, Amorim is said to want a new starting striker and an energetic midfielder.

But he will have to wait for any more arrivals until shifting the likes of Sancho, Rashford, Antony and Garnacho through the exit door.

United could also target a new goalkeeper if Altay Bayindir departs for regular minutes. Andre Onana is currently expected to stay put for a third season.

There is an anticipation that business could pick up from July 1, which marks the start of the new annual PSR window, offering clubs financial relief.
