Man Utd player ratings vs West Ham: Two 3/10s suffer on disastrous day at Old Trafford | Football | Sport

Manchester United were soundly beaten at home to West Ham as they sunk to 16th in the Premier League standings with only two games to go. A dreadful domestic season looks set to end with a whimper after Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen earned a morale-boosting victory for the Hammers, who had been struggling under new boss Graham Potter prior to their arrival at Old Trafford.

United still have a shot at the Europa League title in Bilbao later this month, and Ruben Amorim will need it to have any semblance of pride in what has been a turbulent campaign. Here, Express Sport takes you through how each Red Devils player performed on the day…

Man Utd player ratings vs West Ham (3-4-3)

Altay Bayindir: 5

Again, didn’t make a convincing case to be United’s No. 1 on a day when Andre Onana was rested. Picked the ball out of his net twice, and it looks like some of his team-mates don’t completely trust him.

Noussair Mazraoui: 5

Positioned himself poorly for Soucek’s opener and didn’t look comfortable as a right-sided centre-half.

Leny Yoro: 6 (Maguire, 52)

Didn’t get the opportunities to showcase his ball-playing ability like he did on Thursday. Hobbled off injured just before the hour.

Luke Shaw: 5 (Lindelof, 52)

Looked off the pace and didn’t do enough to help young Harry Amass as the left centre-back playing closest to him.

Amad Diallo: 6 (Eriksen, 83)

Got done twice out wide for the Soucek goal but did show his worth going forward. Stung the fingertips of Alphonse Areola early on and created a great chance for Alejandro Garnacho at the back post, but the sub found the side-netting.

Manuel Ugarte: 3 (Dorgu, 59)

Dreadful afternoon for the Uruguayan, who was poor throughout and got dispossessed in unforgivable fashion to start the attack which led to West Ham’s second.

Bruno Fernandes: 6

United struggled without him at his influential best. Did grow into the game as it went on and was central to much of their threat as they pushed to get back into it.

Harry Amass: 4

Still very young and has plenty of time to mature, but this was a tough day’s work for the 18-year-old, who was beaten to the ball by Soucek for West Ham’s back-post opener.

Kobbie Mainoo: 5

Not in the game at all as a left-sided No. 10. A performance which makes you wonder whether this system will ever get the best out of him.

Rasmus Hojlund: 3

Poor hold-up play, lost the ball too many times and missed a string of chances in the second half. Luke Shaw gave him an earful when a United attack broke down after the ball was played into him, and there were many similar instances throughout the game.

Mason Mount: 7 (Garnacho, 59)

Had some bright moments, played a selection of eye-catching long passes and set up a couple of chances.

SUBS

Victor Lindelof: 5

Stoppage-time mistake gave James Ward-Prowse the chance to score but he wasn’t punished.

Harry Maguire: 5

Beaten easily by Mohammed Kudus for the Bowen goal. Nearly redeemed himself with a pair of headed attempts.

Patrick Dorgu: 6

Second-half cameo was neither here nor there on his weaker right side.

Alejandro Garnacho: 6

Should have done better with the chance when Amad found him at the back post.

Christian Eriksen: N/A

A late addition.
