Man Utd players’ true feelings about Casemiro exit after bombshell announcement | Football | Sport

He helped United to win the Carabao Cup and achieve a top-four finish during his debut campaign under then-manager Erik ten Hag. He was also part of the squad that delivered a memorable FA Cup triumph over Manchester City in 2024. There had been previous demands for United to offload the veteran midfielder, with Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher notoriously stating in 2024 that “football has left” him.

However, the former Porto star has excelled for much of this campaign, including a man-of-the-match performance in the recent Manchester derby victory.

As word of his summer departure from United emerged, Casemiro shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram account featuring footage of him at Old Trafford.

He wrote: “Knowing when stages come to an end. Knowing when to say goodbye when you feel that you will be remembered and respected forever.

“Four months to give my all for this badge and for our goal. Eternal respect and affection for Manchester United and its wonderful fans. Forever Red Devil.”

Casemiro’s message has been liked by plenty of his team-mates, with Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Mason Mount and Patrick Dorgu all showing their appreciation.

Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes has also liked the post, alongside United supporter and darts world champion Luke Littler.

Casemiro is reportedly planning to continue his career following his country’s participation in this summer’s World Cup.

Clubs from Major League Soccer, Saudi Arabia and his native Brazil are said to be showing interest.

United have confirmed that supporters will get the chance to acknowledge Casemiro’s achievements during the final home fixture of the campaign against Nottingham Forest in May.

In the club’s official announcement regarding his departure, Casemiro expressed: “I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life.

“From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club.

“It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months. We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club to succeed.”
