Man Utd to get Mason Greenwood presentation as 43,000 people receive invites | Football | Sport

The Supporters’ Trust (MUST) are launching a large-scale consultation process to gauge the views of members on the possible return of . The 21-year-old is still waiting to discover what the future holds for him at Old Trafford, with an official announcement expected to be made in due course.

Greenwood has been suspended since January last year but saw all charges against him dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service back in February. United have since conducted a six-month internal investigation and it is widely expected that Greenwood will eventually be reintegrated into the first-team squad.

A group of United supporters protested against Greenwood’s return prior to Monday’s win over Wolves, with some fans uncomfortable about the prospect of him playing for the club again. MUST have since emailed 43,000 members asking them to submit their opinion using an online form before presenting the results to United, according to the Daily Mail.

The report states that the outcome of the survey will not be made public, while the group are planning a further submission once United’s final decision on Greenwood has been announced. It is unclear how the findings will be used but there is said to be a possibility that United chiefs could backtrack if the response is overwhelmingly negative.

Part of the email reads: “We do not wish to lead members to submit any particular viewpoint, nor make anyone feel excluded, so it is entirely at your discretion to use (or not use) this opportunity to have your views presented to the club.

“We have notified the club that we will be conducting this process but we cannot offer any view on how the club will choose to utilise the feedback they receive.”

In a statement on Wednesday, United denied that a final decision has already been made regarding Greenwood’s future and insisted that his return is still under ‘intensive internal deliberation’. It has also been reported that club chiefs will consult their women’s team before announcing whether or not Greenwood will be welcomed back into the fold.

Greenwood joined United at the age of six and has registered 129 senior appearances for the Red Devils since making his professional debut for the club four years ago. He has also won a single cap for England but has not played for the Three Lions since breaking Covid restrictions while on international duty in Iceland in 2020.
