Margot Robbie’s divisive latest movie coming to Netflix this week | Films | Entertainment
A film that divided opinion is set to land on Netflix this week. It’s award-winning actress’ Margot Robbie’s latest offering, yet it has stirred up mixed reviews from critics and fans.
Those with a Netflix account will be able to make their own minds up about A Big Bold Beautiful Journey (2025) when it lands on the streaming platform on Saturday. It sees Robbie star alongside actor Colin Farrell as the pair meet as strangers at a mutual friend’s wedding.
However, they are given the chance to relive important moments from their pasts. It highlights the path that led them to the present and gives them the chance to change their futures.
The romance, fantasy, drama was written by Seth Reiss and directed by Kogonada. Its star-studded cast also includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Jennifer Grant and Kevin Kline.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey was released in September last year and racked up mixed reviews. Unfortunately, it bombed at the box office as the movie grossed $20.2 million compared to its $45 million net budget.
Review site Rotten Tomatoes sees 36% of 185 critics’ reviews as positive. Their consensus reads: “Too solemn to have much fun with its high concept while also too saccharine for its wistful themes to resonate, this well-meaning odyssey never quite lives up to its title.”
However, reviews from the audience were slightly better. The audience consensus reads: “The dividends of this Journey may depend on how much of A Big Bold Beautiful cheese your stomach can tolerate, but for those seeking vibrant colors and heart, it may pay in spades.”
One movie fan shared: “A good movie to get you thinking about how reviewing how our past choices can reshape how we move forward with our lives and make better choices and be better people. Treat ourselves better and others better.”
Another added: “Very interesting rom com premise. Loved Colin Farrell (very charming) and Margo Robbie (lovely as always) together.”
Someone else commented: “I can understand how this movie might not be for everyone, but for anyone who has ever felt like they might be on a big, bold journey, this movie told that story beautifully.”
Yet, a fourth shared: “The movie was too slow.” Another wrote: “Storyline was too strange for me. Great actors though.”
