Mark Williams stuns snooker fans with genius exhibition shot in China | Other | Sport

Welsh snooker star Mark Williams has wowed fans with a stunning jump shot during a Chinese exhibition match. One of the more charismatic figures on the table, three-time world champion Williams is revered for his trickshot abilities – most recently on professional display during the sixth frame of a 10-9 Saudi Arabia Masters final loss against Judd Trump.

The Welshman has also tried his talented hand away from the baize of the World Snooker Tour, appearing on the Ultimate Pool circuit in the past and openly admitting a love for Chinese eight-ball.

Williams pulled off his latest feat while participating in an eight-ball pool exhibition against fellow snooker star Cao Yupeng, 33, who has been ranked as high as world No. 35.

The left-handed ace approached the end of a frame against his adversary, with a final black left to sink – although a pink was blocking a direct attack.

In a fashion typical of the Welshman, Williams jumped his cue ball over the blocking pink and stunningly potted the black into a far pocket to seal the frame.

As would be expected, such a shot sent those in attendance crazy, and loud screams and cheers could be heard as Williams turned to the camera in amazement at his make.

Williams posted the brilliant shot, which was streamed to thousands of viewers, to X, captioning it: “Just a quick jump shot live in China.”

Fans mirrored such admiration by commenting on the 49-year-old’s post, with one writing: “I love how you’re equally surprised and chuffed at this. Superb shot!”

A second stated: “There is no end to your talents Willo!!! Brilliant,” while another added: “This is where your future lies. Everyone having a few beers and celebrating a great shot like it’s football.”

Williams hasn’t started this season in the richest vein of form, though his run to the final in Saudi Arabia pocketed him £200,000 and sees him currently ranked as World No.7 – and third on the one-year list.
