Mo Salah already showing off Liverpool contract cash as £725K item seen during unveiling | Football | Sport
Mohamed Salah didn’t take long to show off his lucrative contract extension at Liverpool. After months of speculation, ‘The Egyptian King’ finally ended the fears of fans by putting pen to paper on a new two-year deal that runs until the summer of 2027.
Salah was due to be a free agent this summer and had been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. However, the 31-year-old now looks set to take his Anfield stay to a decade after signing in 2017 for what now appears to be a bargain £36.5million fee. He’s since gone on to score 243 club goals and has already cemented legendary status on Merseyside.
The new deal is worth a staggering £380,000-per-week with the forward comfortably remaining the club’s highest earner. Judging by the official pictures of the announcement, he’s not been putting his wages into a savings account either.
Salah was seen sporting a luxury blue watch on his left wrist. Further investigations proved the item was a 17-02 Tourbillon Titanium model from Swiss watch company Richard Mille.
Reviews on the company website lauded the watch’s unique qualities, which included a “tonneau-shaped case fashioned from satin-finished grade 5 titanium.” It was also described as: “biocompatible, highly corrosion-resistant, with remarkably rigid alloy.”
Presumably, it also boasts a pretty effective stopwatch and alarm clock, given that the 2022 model was quoted at an astonishing £725,000. That figure signifies a lifetime’s worth of savings for many members of the general public but just two weeks’ work for this season’s Premier League’s top scorer.
If he continues his current form, though, few Liverpool fans are likely to begrudge Salah some lavish spending. After signing his deal, he outlined his desire to help bring more success and silverware to Arne Slot’s champions-elect.
“Of course I’m very excited,” he said. “We have a great team now. Before, also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.”
