Moment climber scales 53-floor skyscraper with his hands | World | News
This is the shocking moment a daredevil climber scaled the tallest building in the European Union with nothing but his hands. Urban climber Titouan Leduc from northeastern France, has made a reputation for himself for scaling skyscrapers without any ropes or specialist equipment, wearing only a pair of climbing shoes.
His latest adventurous move saw him climb the tallest building in Poland – The Varso Tower in Warsaw. Spanning 53 floors the skyscraper stands at 310 meters (1,017 feet) tall and is a significant landmark in the city’s skyline. Construction work on the sixth-tallest building in Europe started in December 2016 and was completed in September 2022.
Jaw dropping photos show Titouan making his way up the building’s spire barehanded with him wearing just a white t-shirt, shorts and boots.
However, the 24-year-old’s athleticism failed to impress Polish police, and he was arrested on the roof, 230 metres above the ground, before he could reach the 80-metre antenna above it.
It is unknown if he will face any charges. The staggering complex features three buildings and cost approximately £417 million (€500 million).
It is ever so slightly taller than The Shard as it has a 60-meter spire, making it 310 meters tall, while The Shard is 309.6 meters.
Titouan has around 86,000 followers on TikTok, where he regularly posts videos of his hair-raising adventures.
Calling himself “a mix of Tarzan & Spider-Man,” Titouan has a growing reputation as an urban climber and often attract hordes of people who watch on in awe as he completes blood curdling stunts.
Speaking to French news agency AFP last year, the daredevil said his passion for climbing started when he was a young boy. Fast forward to his late teens and he was scaling buildings in his home city of Nancy, in eastern France.
“It’s a unique sensation. I’m face to face with myself,” he said.
He insisted, however, that he knows what he’s doing: “I’m looking for ways to push myself a bit. But I know my limits and I try not to exceed them. Otherwise that’s where it gets really dangerous.”
