Moment unsteady Trump jokes about ‘grabbing’ Karoline Leavitt on turbulent flight | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Donald Trump interrupted a press conference on Air Force One as he admitted he was concerned about turbulence while crossing the Atlantic coast on Sunday as he was heading back to Washington, D.C from Mar-a-Lago. The US President was addressing the media on board the plane while standing in the aisle with his press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, positioned behind him. As he was asked a question, he turned to look at Leavitt and around the plane before telling reporters: “I am looking for something to grab here because it’s going to get rough…” He quipped that the reporters at the conference had put him in a position where “there was absolutely nothing to grab”. 

The American leader then added: “So I am looking for something to grab, and it’s not going to be Karoline.”

Leavitt laughed off Trump’s remark as he continued trying to find something to hold onto during the flight, which appeared to be a very turbulent one.

As the press continued to ask the 79-year-old questions, he was seen trying to hold onto a curtain to steady himself and continue with the conference. Leavitt and Trump shared another glance during the awkward moment.

It’s not the first time the President has made an unconventional comment about Leavitt, whom he previously hailed for having “lips that move like a machine gun”.

In another clip from the flight, Trump is seen holding onto part of the plane and tells journalists: “These are rough winds, this is a rough flight. These are tough conditions for interviews.

“They are going to be watching Trump and saying, ‘He didn’t look too good, he’s got the shakes.’ I don’t have the shakes, but people are going to think I do.”

Viewers were quick to comment on the clip, with one writing: “Watch him struggle to find something to hold.” A second added: “Air Force One hits turbulence over Asia and President Trump IMMEDIATELY trolls the media.”

A third added: “Even the turbulence knows — it can shake the plane, but not Trump’s confidence!”
