M&S coat that ‘looks more expensive’ now down to £35
With temperatures set to plummet in the next few days, shoppers looking to upgrade their outerwear are in luck, as Marks and Spencer’s January sale is in full swing. There are plenty of cosy winter staples on offer, but one of the best discounts we’ve spotted is on a versatile coat, which is 50% off.
The twill single-breasted coat has been slashed from £70 to £35, reports Chronicle Live. At the time of writing, it’s in stock only in a light caramel shade, and sizes eight to 18 and 24.
The coat has a straight, relaxed fit that shopper reviews say leaves enough room for layers underneath, without looking too bulky. It’s woven in a synthetic blend and comes lined, with functional pockets on the sides. It closes with tortoiseshell buttons and has a neat collared neckline.
The coat is an excellent investment for lovers of tailored pieces, as it has a classic shape and clean lines that make it timeless. It would look smart over a work outfit, but could be just as nice with a pair of dark jeans for a more casual look. It’s the kind of piece that can effortlessly take you from day to night, keeping you warm without compromising on style.
M&S shoppers are praising the coat for its versatility, with one saying: “Wanted an ‘all occasion’ coat and this is perfect. The fit is a little generous, so I went down a size, and it’s perfect, still roomy enough for a thick jumper on colder days.”
Another said: “Can be dressed up or down and can comfortably wear a chunky sweater underneath without it looking voluminous. Fabric had a good weight to it, and buttons up easily and neatly in the colder weather. Great quality material, and it looks more expensive than the price. I bought the caramel colour, which seems to go with most things – will get plenty of wear out of this.”
A third customer commented on the quality: “Excellent quality and a great price. I bought it as an alternative to puffer coats to make it easier for driving. I love how it makes me feel and look. Received lots of great compliments when I wear it too so always a bonus.”
Another wrote: “Just what I needed! A smart, go-anywhere, warm winter coat. Good quality, great colour, just super. Can’t fault it.”
However, the coat’s material has drawn criticism from some customers, with several shoppers reporting it’s prone to bobbling, and another saying they “would have liked more wool in it”.
This specific coat is made from a synthetic blend, but shoppers who prefer natural fibres can still get some good deals in the M&S sale. They’d have to act fast, as everything is starting to sell out. For example, this pure wool coat from the retailer’s collaboration with Bella Freud is down 50% from £300 to £150, but only larger sizes are in stock.
