Mum watches baby sleeping on monitor and spots unexpected guest
Baby monitors are a fantastic way to keep an eye on your little one as they sleep, or when you put them down for their nap during the day. It just quickly puts your mind at ease that your child is safe and sleeping soundly, rather than having to constantly physically go in their room and check on them, potentially risking disturbing their slumber.
But one mum was left gobsmacked when she noticed an unexpected guest in her two-year-old’s room on the monitor. Mum Tori was quick to say on TikTok that she didn’t want any unsolicited parenting advice, because she “knew what was coming” when she posted the video.
In the adorable video, the family cat could be seen curling up with her little girl in different positions throughout the night. Over the top of the video, Tori wrote: “When the big humans accidentally lock you in the little humans’ room overnight, and it’s the best night of your life”.
The cat looked content as anything as they happily moved whenever the little girl needed to move positions. In the caption, Tori wrote: “So many biscuits were made”.
She also said that her daughter “is not a baby” and this was “not done on purpose,” reassuring people that in the future they’ll be “more mindful” about the cat’s location.
In some of the video clips, the cat was lying over the toddler’s legs, literally looking like the cat that got the cream. The cat also lay on their back next to the toddler’s feet, mimicking the position she was in but the other way round.
In the comments, people were quick to defend the mum and point out that cats are not like dogs in the way that they behave.
Someone wrote: “I think people are forgetting cats are not dogs. This cat isn’t going to randomly attack your child! If a cat were to do that, there would be signs beforehand because an a****** cat is an a****** cat 100% of the time”.
Another said: “You can’t allow this with cats because they will make this their sleeping spot and MAKE you let them in going forward”.
A woman joked: “This is actually really dangerous, they could become best friends and will never sleep alone again”.
“Them both sprawled out across each other is the sweetest,” somebody else penned.
Another woman shared: “My mum’s cat (I’m visiting) slept with me all night last night. Like full-blown cuddling. I’m 25, and my mom woke up and was so jealous she called the cat a traitor.
“Her kitty cat reminds me of my childhood cat that lived to 19 (we literally grew up together). She always cuddled me when I was little. I miss that cat so much. Let that baby bond with kitty, cause it will be a lifelong friendship”.
“Everyone worried about the baby, and I’m just worried about the baby in 15-20 years when she loses her best friend,” a cat owner shared.
