Mum’s easy tip to make ‘pot noodles’ at home – much cheaper

A mum has shared the ultimate way to make your own pot noodles, and the recipe ensures you’ll always have some to hand.

Debie, known as thatb_tchdebie on TikTok, often shares her cooking tips on social media. Batch day is her “favourite day” of the week, and one of her latest recipes has gone down a storm.

She shared how to make homemade pot noodles quickly and at a cheap rate. As well as being really easy to make, she said they’re also super delicious.

The homecook assured they don’t take long to make once you stock up your cupboards with the ingredients. She started by taking some packet egg noodle nests and placing them in her pots.

Then she makes a paste from garlic and ginger, and gets some gochujang, sunchang and miso to turn the flavour up a notch. She told people they’ll also need some light soy and oyster sauce too.

She divides the paste between her containers, and puts a teaspoon each of the other ingredients in too. Next she adds a selection of vegetables which include mushrooms, red pepper, beansprouts, spring onions, pak choi, water chestnuts and bamboo shoots.

Bit by bit, she loads the containers up with the veggies until they’re full, and obviously you could mix up what you add according to your personal preference. Debie said it’s going to be “lush”.

“They look beautiful, don’t they?” she said. “I bet you’re going to make them.”

If you want to, she said you can also add some meat to the recipe too. In her video, she uses cooked chicken and cooked porked chop. This really allowed her to take the flavour to another level.

When she wants one, all she does is fill them to the top with boiling water, and puts the lid on for two minutes. Then she takes the lid off, and gives it a stir.

After popping it in the microwave for a few minutes, you’re then good to go. A luxury pot noodle at the touch of your fingertips.

The video has since gained a lot of attention, having been liked more than 13,000 times. Not to mention, social media users love to hear Debie’s Cardiff accent shine through too.

One person commented: “Your energy is so refreshing. The pot noodles look amazing.”

A second replied: “I’ve never seen anyone make pot noodles in my life. I’m going to try – save me a fortune.”

A third also wrote: “Thank you. You’ve made this dad smile. Also, as someone who has cooked all his life, these look fantastic. I will try, review and let you know.”

Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “Genius. I’m definitely going to try these. Cheers!”
