New Hollywood blockbuster breaks Avengers Endgame box office record – not Avatar | Films | Entertainment
Back in 2016, Disney released their anthropomorphic buddy cop comedy animation Zootopia (Zootropolis in the UK) and stormed the box office with over $1 billion.
Almost a decade on and the sequel finally hit cinemas in November with glowing reviews and box office glory.
Zootopia 2 (Zootropolis 2) has already made over $1.5 billion worldwide and broke the record for biggest opening weekend for an animated film ($560 million).
Incredibly popular in China, the Disney movie became the first Hollywood movie to gross over $100 million in a single day on November 29.
And now it’s broken another record previously held by 2019’s Avengers Endgame.
Zootopia 2 has now surpassed the Marvel epic as the highest-grossing Hollywood film of all time in China, with a total of $608 million and counting.
As it stands, the new film is the 12th biggest movie worldwide and the 4th biggest animated motion picture of all time.
Zootopia 2 (Zootropolis 2) is out now in cinemas.
