New study shows just how much time Brits spend in nature
A recent study has revealed that Britons spend just over two hours a month in nature.
The research, carried out by Clipper Tea, surveyed 2,000 Brits and discovered a disconnect between people and their time spent outside, particularly during busy weekdays.
The research showed that 36% of those surveyed only experience nature when they’re on their commute or lunch break. Consequently, 21% feel entirely disconnected from nature.
Despite these figures, the majority of respondents expressed a desire to spend more time in nature by 2025 but stressed obstacles such as lack of time and limited access to natural surroundings makes this more difficult.
In an attempt to tackle this issue, Clipper Tea has teamed up with DJ SUAT, also known as Zach Sabri, to produce a new music track titled Sounds of Nature.
This track combines ambient sounds from the natural world with SUAT’s distinctive electronic beats and ams to help Brits reconnect with nature, even if they can’t physically get outside.
Nearly eight out of ten Brits identify the sounds of nature as one of their favourite aspects of the great outdoors and this new collaboration offers an opportunity to experience these sounds even if you can’t get outside.
“Nature is the perfect stage for what I do-it’s positive, inspiring, and the feel-good vibes are endless,” DJ SUAT declared.
“I feel very fortunate to have created the Sounds of Nature track with Clipper Tea, with the goal of reconnecting the UK to the wild and wonderful sounds nature offers. Put the kettle on, play the song on YouTube, and experience how good nature feels.”
The project also champions environmental conservation. Each play of the track on YouTube results in a donation to the Sounds Right Conservation Fund, which raises funds for initiatives led by EarthPercent, an organisation dedicated to conservation projects.
The study highlighted that over two thirds of those surveyed said being in nature helps lower their stress levels, with a similar percentage saying it boosts their mood. Showing the significant mental and emotional benefits of spending time outdoors.
“The benefits and wonders of the great outdoors are truly limitlessm,” said Hannah Southwick, a spokesperson for Clipper Tea. “At Clipper Tea, we aim to bring people closer to nature with every cup of tea, and we’re now going one step further by reconnecting people with the sounds of nature.”
