Whether for worn for a cruise trip or a city break, the Short Sleeve Crochet Crew Neck T-shirt, £25, is a top-seller on Next’s website as customers return and purchase multiple colours.

Crafted from 100% cotton, the top features square motifs on the breathable crochet design with a thick band across the bustier. The T-shirt exudes charm on its own but can also be layered over a camisole or slip dress for different looks.

Among the 11 colour options, popular shades are White, Organe and the Blue Pattern. The top has garnered a glowing 4.5-star rating from shoppers who have praised the generous fit and ‘top quality fabric’.

Next has advised fashion-forward shoppers to “pair with linen trousers for the ultimate ‘cool girl look’ on the beach or by the pool” in order to stay chic and breezy during scorching days. Meanwhile, Boden’s £52 Fae Crochet Top is turning heads with its distinctive stripes and crochet embellishments adorning the sleeves and neckline.

For a knitwear option, Joe Brown’s Summer Love Crochet Cardigan features open floral knitwork in a soft blue colour and it’s available for £55.

One pleased Next customer got the Crochet Top in Blue Pattern and remarked: “A lovely top to dress up or down, the colour mix is really nice and it’s ideal for spring and summer days, the sizing is quite generous so I went down a size.”

Another chimed in with praise: “Very nice and I got a lot of compliments off friends. Just go one size down as it’s quite big.”

However, not everyone found it to their liking, as some mentioned drawbacks like its wide neck opening, while another customer remarked that the orange shade was “a little too bright” leading them to return the piece.

One had reservations and removed one star from the review, commenting: “Lovely, dressy T-shirt, I thought it did shrink slightly when I hand washed it. I was pleased it came in the tall range as so many of new tops are very short.”

But a shopper offered some advice: “It’s boxy but I love it. You can wear it either tucked in your jeans or leave it out. At the moment I wear a vest underneath and put a cardigan or blazer over it. I like that I can layer it if I wanted to.”
