One of the best British film series ever made is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video | Films | Entertainment

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective has been portrayed countless times for Film and TV over the years.

One of the most recent popular incarnations has to be Robert Downey Jr’s take in 2009’s Sherlock Holmes with Jude Law as Dr Watson.

The Oscar-nominated film was followed up a couple of years later with Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, in which Guy Richie returned once again to the director’s chair.

Stephen Fry played Mycroft Holmes and Jared Harris portrayed Professor Moriarty in a storyline that incorporated elements of short stories The Final Problem and The Adventure of the Empty House.

A third film has been in development hell for years but now Law has some exciting news on Sherlock Holmes 3.

Speaking with The Playlist, the Dr Watson star said: “The plan has been evolving over how many years it’s been now, probably nearly ten years. There’s a great will to make it. And a great will amongst us all to get it right to do it, to find the time, to find the right team. The one great thing I took from both of those films is my friendship with Robert [Downey Jr.] and his wife Susan, they mean an awful lot to me. The hope is we’re still going to do it. I think there’s a new iteration of the script I haven’t yet read. And then there’s a case of ‘How expensive is it? And can we get it made?’”

Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows are both now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
