‘One of the best films ever’ with 95% Rotten Tomatoes score on BBC iPlayer | Films | Entertainment
A thrilling action film that fans have described as one of the best they have ever watched is now available to stream for free on BBC iPlayer. The Law of Tehran, released in 2019, currently has an impressive score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, where it has been described as exhilarating, tense, and cinematically masterful.
Law of Tehran, also titled Just 6.5, is an Iranian thriller written and directed by Saeed Roustaee. The film follows Samad, a narcotics detective who is on the hunt for a drug kingpin, and when a raid leads to him capturing a low-level dealer, he finds himself led to another criminal who is connected to the drug lord.
The critics’ consensus on Rotten Tomatoes reads: “Breathtakingly tense, Law of Tehran infuses its hard-hitting story with kinetic, gritty action and morally complex themes.”
In 2020, AWFJ.org said that it was “one of the most exhilarating crime films of the year.”
While The Hollywood Reporter wrote: “Just 6.5 is more than a thrilling watch. It is a sobering reflection on the inability of the law to stem the tide of drug addiction through round-ups, arrests and executions.”
In addition to critics, viewers were also extremely impressed with the film, with many going so far as to say it is one of the best films they have ever watched.
Leaving a review on Google, one person wrote: “One of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. The actors and characters they portrayed were so full of natural emotion. The theme of the movie was also pertinent, harsh death sentences for drug offenders doesn’t solve the problem.
A second said: “The most tense film I’ve seen in years, with superb acting skills. Prison scenes were heartrending, as are the family issues explicit in the film. I was horrified by the drug addiction figures. BBC should bring us more international films.”
A third wrote: “One of the best movies I’ve ever seen; Script, director, actors, camera, music, all are powerful and influential.”
The film stars Payman Maadi, Navid Mohammed, Parinaz Izadyar and Farhad, who were also heavily commended for their work by fans.
Echoing all the above, one fan dubbed the film “perfect” before adding that it deserves to win an “Oscar and every other movie award”.
The film is available for seven months on BBC iPlayer.
