Original Factory Shop offering discount to some customers tomorrow | Personal Finance | Finance

A discount department store is trying to offer hard-up pensioners a boost tomorrow as an increasing number find their budgets squeezed.

The Original Factory Shop (TOFS), which has 200 stores across the UK, is aiming to assist those affected by Labour’s Winter Fuel Payment changes.

For one day only, the department store is providing a discount exclusively for customers aged 60 and above.

On Wednesday, October 2, individuals aged 60 and over can enjoy a 10% reduction on their in-store purchases, with no minimum spend necessary, although they will need to possess a TOFS Club card or Club app.

Looking ahead, the discount retailer intends to designate the first Wednesday of every month as a discount day for this demographic.

To make use of the discount, customers are required to present proof of age and scan their TOFS Club card or app at the checkout.

Acceptable forms of age verification include a senior bus pass, a driving licence, a Freedom Pass, or a Senior Railcard.

All TOFS outlets throughout the UK will be participating in the monthly offer, with the multi-department retailer already offering a broad range of goods at reduced prices.

Ian Williams, CEO of The Original Factory Shop, emphasised that this initiative is the retailer’s way of giving back to the customers who need it most.

He revealed: “We have an important history of supporting our older customers and this latest initiative is designed to help them with their outgoings.

“While we already provide big savings on big brands, this offer means we can share even more with some of our most loyal customers.”
