Pedro Porro blasts Tottenham fans after screaming at team-mate and storming off pitch | Football | Sport

Pedro Porro has taken a swipe at Tottenham supporters while explaining his furious reaction following the defeat to Fulham. Spurs, who were thrashed by Arsenal last weekend, conceded two goals within the opening six minutes against the Cottagers and, despite Mohammed Kudus pulling one back in the second period, they couldn’t salvage a point.

Thomas Frank‘s men have managed only one home triumph in the Premier League this campaign, with the Fulham reverse marking just one victory from their previous seven matches. A deflected Kenny Tete effort opened the scoring, before Harry Wilson brilliantly fired home from long range following a Guglielmo Vicario error.

The Spurs shot-stopper was caught well outside his area after a poor clearance from a Fulham pass, allowing Wilson to slot the ball into an unguarded net.

Vicario was jeered whenever he handled the ball for the rest of the half, with boos ringing out after he dealt with a back pass.

Porro has now used social media to criticise the response from Tottenham fans and clarify his post-match behaviour, where he marched back onto the pitch after initially heading down the tunnel to confront Lucas Bergvall.

He wrote via Instagram: “Football is emotions. In football, as in life, there can always be mistakes, what I will not tolerate is hearing disrespect from the fan to my team-mates, hence my frustration at the end of the game.

“And we will get up, we remind you six months ago, everything was so bad and in the end it is not how it begins but how it ends. To the true Spurs fan, I love you.”

It appears evident that Porro is unhappy with the Tottenham supporters who booed Vicario and believes they are not genuine fans.

Tottenham boss Frank also criticised those who reacted negatively towards his goalkeeper following a significant mistake.

When questioned whether he understood their frustration, he said: “Yeah but I think we need to be clear on what I talked about. I talked about after Vic, that I didn’t like.

“That is unacceptable. You can’t be after one player. Let me finish. I think that is very important because if you want anyone to perform you need to be behind them.

“In my opinion, that’s what you get to get people to perform in the best possible way. After, no problem.”

Tottenham desperately need a positive result to arrest their slide but face one of their most challenging fixtures on Tuesday evening as they travel to Newcastle.

Spurs have already suffered a 2-0 defeat at St James’ Park this campaign, which knocked them out of the Carabao Cup. The pressure on Frank seems to be intensifying and another loss could mean next weekend’s match against his former side Brentford becomes crucial.
