Pep Guardiola breaks silence on shock Man City loss to Bodo/Glimt | Football | Sport
Pep Guardiola has admitted his Manchester City squad is feeling ‘fragile’ following their shock 3-1 defeat to Bodo/Glimt. A second loss in just four days has left the Blues reeling following on from a derby day defeat to Manchester United. City were caught cold by the Norwegian outfit, conceding twice in a devastating three-minute spell during the first half from which they never recovered. The result dealt a significant blow to their hopes of securing a top-eight finish in the Champions League group stage, which would have seen them bypass the play-off round.
Now, City face an anxious wait to discover what they’ll need from their final group match against Galatasaray next week to guarantee progression. After starting 2026 in commanding form across all competitions, City have stumbled badly with three draws and two defeats from seven January fixtures, dramatically altering the trajectory of their campaign.
Having gone four Premier League matches now without victory, Saturday’s encounter with bottom-dwelling Wolves has become crucial if City are to maintain any realistic challenge for the title. It represents a stern examination for a side Guardiola acknowledges is struggling to compensate for key absentees.
“We arrived in some departments without important players and they are a little bit fragile like they were last season in a certain period but how they fought, 10 against 11, a lot of players made a step up,” Guardiola reflected.
“We have to come back for the victory. “I have a feeling that the results since 2025 was not good, so in terms of the Premier League, and now today, but we have to look forward. We have four days for Wolves and after Galatasaray, to try to see what happens.
“Today was an incredible opportunity for us, but the feeling is that everything is going wrong, it’s going against in many, many details, and that is a fact, and we have to try to change it. But the players are there, and we’ll try.”
