Every cat owner knows the challenge: our feline companions can be incredibly selective about their food. Whether they favour gravy over jelly or salmon over tuna, deciphering their preferences is a constant puzzle.

However, once we’ve cracked the code of their favourite flavours, the next hurdle is sourcing these specific tastes in the supermarket without wasting food from multipacks. This is where Purina’s fun Pick ‘n’ Mix for cat food steps in.

With this unique offer, you can curate your own personalised Felix cat food box, selecting between the six flavours your cat adores most. Each box holds 120 sachets, allowing you to stockpile food you know your cat will devour and saving you the inconvenience of lugging heavy crates back from the supermarket, reports Sussex Live.

Shopping editor and proud owner of cat Theo, Tom Capon, says: “If I were choosing for my cat, Theo, I would opt for chicken in jelly (7+), as he has such a fondness for jelly that he consumes it first. The chicken guarantees he won’t leave any remnants, even after he’s polished off the jelly.

“Next, I’d pick the Felix Tasty Shreds Wet Cat Food in Tuna because while he appreciates fish, he relishes gravy and licks the bowl spotlessly, reaping all the nutritious benefits. Lastly, his absolute favourite meat, Naturally Delicious Turkey in Jelly, would be the crowning glory to complete his breakfast and dinner banquets.”

The Pick ‘N’ Mix costs £49.50 when ordered through Purina, which is a mere 41p per packet. Additionally, Purina offers a tempting 10% discount for new customers who sign up for the newsletter, bringing the cost down to £44.50. For those with finicky felines, there’s the option to purchase 120 packets of their preferred flavour.

While the mega bundle has yet to receive reviews, its food certainly has. One satisfied customer exclaimed: “My kitten doesn’t like cat food, so I’ve been buying many different brands, but it’s made no difference. When he does eat cat food, it’s always Felix as good as it looks, and he does eat more when he gets chicken flavour.”

They continued, “So when I saw I could purchase just the chicken flavour, I was elated, and so is my kitten because he’s now eating cat food several times a day and looks forward to his meals.”

Another pleased purchaser said, “My cats are extremely spoilt, which has made them very picky with their food. Being able to purchase just the flavours that they enjoy is fantastic. The cats are happy, and so am I because it means I’m not paying for pouches that they won’t eat. Keep it up, Purina.”

A further comment from a customer read: “My two adult cats love ‘As good as it looks’ chicken in jelly. It’s great to choose large cartons of their preferred good via the Purina website.”

Purina’s Pick ‘n’ Mix range has received mixed reviews from pet owners, with a disappointed customer sharing: “I thought that my cats would love it, but apparently not. Only one will eat it, and it’s too rich for the others. It’s such a shame, but that’s cats for you. Favourite one day, hate it the next.”

Meanwhile, another customer expressed their critique, noting: “It contains more protein; however, it is more difficult to feed cats; there is always something left in the bag.”

Despite these remarks, Purina’s Pick ‘n’ Mix is available for purchase directly through its website. For those whose furry friends are not enamoured by Felix, there are abundant alternatives on the market — Applaws touts natural cat food served in broth, presenting options like tuna fillet and chicken breast. Amazon is offering a tempting deal on a 12-pack at £7.20, a drop from the usual price of £13.29.

Also vying for your attention, Tesco currently promotes a 40-pack of Whiskas Poultry Feasts in Jelly at just £12.49. This bargain includes an assortment of flavours, including chicken, duck, poultry, and turkey, which are sure to please any discerning feline palate.
