Royal Mail postman has hilariously unique parcel delivery method
It can be frustrating when you miss a parcel, especially when you were only five minutes away from returning home when they post that universally hated calling card, explaining that you’ll have to arrange a redelivery or go and pick it up from your local depot the following day.
It’s especially annoying if it was a present you urgently needed to give to someone, or something you paid extra for to receive next-day delivery, as it can be majorly frustrating.
But one Royal Mail postman wasn’t going to let the recipient not being in stop him from delivering his parcel, nor was he going to leave it in a bin or out in the open for someone to pinch.
No, he noticed that there was a window open at the front of the house, and he took the opportunity to deliver it through there.
He didn’t just launch it and hope for the best, however, oh, no. He enlisted the help of a nearby window cleaner, who just happened to be passing at the time he was making the delivery.
One woman named Stacey Curran caught the whole thing on her home security system, and couldn’t help but share it on TikTok.
She posted a picture of the Royal Mail card that had been left, which read: “Through the bedroom window,” likely something that no customer ever expected to see.
The footage starts with the delivery driver standing at the door, waiting for someone to open up, as the window cleaner walks behind him, looking in his direction.
The window cleaner then says something to the postman, the postman turns around, and they begin chatting, probably hatching a plan to ensure that the parcel can be delivered safely without him having to take it away.
Laughing, the window cleaner then brought his ladders to the house, and propped them up against the wall so he’d be able to climb up to the top window and pop the parcel through on behalf of the postman.
The Royal Mail man could then be seen taking a photo of the window cleaner posting the parcel through the gap in the window, and the pair were both laughing at their genius idea.
“I just know these two were dead chuffed with themselves,” someone wrote in the comments, and it was clear from their faces that they were – and rightly so.
In the caption of the video, Stacey wrote: “Actually can not cope, come home to find this postcard and thought you have got to be having me on, thinking the postman has thrown it through the window! Hats off to my window cleaner and postman,” followed by a slew of clapping emojis.
The Post Office’s TikTok even commented, saying: “He was READY”.
Others begged to “see the proof of postage photo,” knowing that it was going to be hilarious, saying: “Don’t leave us hanging!”
One woman joked: “Sometimes I stay in bed and ignore the door on purpose so this would be very awkward…”
“Mr Postman was determined not to put that parcel back in his van,” another shared.
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “Our posties always aim to make sure customers receive their deliveries, and we’re proud of the effort they put in every day. This was certainly a unique method, but we’re pleased the customer received their item”.
