Russia launched yet another deadly attack on Ukraine in the early hours of Sunday – hours after Ukraine met with US delegates to find peace terms Kyiv could agree to. The shameless Kremlin launched yet another strike on civil infrastructure, causing power and water outages in the city of Kremenchuk.
Vitalii Maltskyi, the mayor of Kremenchuk, a major industrial hub in central Ukraine, said the city had been repeatedly struck in a “massive” attack. No deaths have been confirmed so far and the extent of the damge is currently unclear. Residents in the city, which is home to one of Ukraine’s biggest oil refineries, reported hearing explosions and the mayor said water, electricity and heat had been cut off for some.
Maltskyi uploaded a photo of the scene showing a massive fire engulfing what looked like industrial buildings at night.
Just a day ago Russia unleashed one of its largest aerial attacks on Ukraine overnight since the beginning of the war. In the massive missile and drone barrage, Russia used 653 drones and 51 missiles.
Russia said it had shot down 77 Ukrainian drones in several locations. The latest wave of attacks coincide with efforts to negotiate an end to the war which has rumbled on since February 2022.
Volodymyr Zelensky hailed the progress made at peace talks with US officials in Florida, saying the “next steps and the format” of further discussions had been agreed.
Zelensky said he was “determined” to continue working with the US after speaking with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and the US president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
“Ukraine is committed to continuing to work honestly with the American side to bring about real peace,” Zelensky said on Telegram.
Zelensky added that they discussed ways to guarantee that Russia would honour any future agreement to end the war.

Mr Trump was asked by reporters how he thought future meetings might play out. He responded: “I don’t know what the Kremlin is doing.”
He added: “I can tell you that they had a reasonably good meeting with President Putin. We’re going to find out. It’s a war that should have never been started.
“What comes out of that meeting? I can’t tell you, because it does take two to tango. He would like to end the war.
“That was their impression. Now, whether or not you know that was their impression, you know their impression was that they’d like to see he would like to see the war ended.”
