Russian army disaster as Ukraine destroys over 19,000 drones in lethal strike | World | News
Ukraine’s army conducted devastating strikes on Russian munition depots, inflicting serious damage. The attacks targeted warehouses storing large quantities of ammunition and over 19,000 drone units in August and September.
The depots were located in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions in eastern Ukraine and were completely destroyed, according to Ukraine‘s General Staff. Ukraine‘s intelligence identified a warehouse storing recently delivered ammunition for the 17th Tank Regiment of the 70th Motorised Rifle Division near Bohdanivka in Luhansk. “Trucks delivered tens of thousands of mines, grenades, and various types of ammunition, thousands of tank rounds (including high-precision ZUBK-14) and artillery shells to the tank regiment’s field depot,” the General Staff reported.
The attack on the depot was carried out in a joint operation by Ukraine‘s Army and the SBU.
Soldiers from the Dnipr Special Operations Command then destroyed a warehouse in Donetsk containing more than 19,000 strike drones.
The drone stockpile consisted of various models – such as Molniya, Boomerang, Novgorod Vandal and Gorynych. The depot was also stocked with batteries, communication modules and video transmitters.
Earlier in September, Ukraine‘s army wiped out a number of Russian military command posts in Donetsk, killing several senior officers.
The command posts belonged to Russia‘s Centre Group of Forces and the 41st Combined Arms Army. Both military units are involved in heavy fighting around Pokrovsk, a key Ukrainian logistical hub.
Fierce battles for the strategic city have raged for over a year, but Putin’s army could be on the cusp of finally capturing it.
Viewed as the “gateway to Donetsk” by the Russians, the city’s capture would severely impact Ukraine‘s ability to resupply its eastern army
The fall of Pokrovsk would also open the road to the other crucial fortress cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.
Kyiv’s army has fought tooth and nail to prevent the Russians from seizing control of the city, but the situation is worsening for its heroic defenders.
