Scary Movie 6 trailer – Original cast return in horror parody reboot 26 years on | Films | Entertainment

It’s been 26 years since the original Scary Movie kicked off the horror parody film franchise.

After none of the original cast returned for 2013’s Scary Movie 5, the series is getting a reboot with Scary Movie 6 being rebranded as Scary Movie.

Anna Faris and Regina Hall return as Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks, alongside Marlon and Shawn Wayans (Shorty Meeks and Ray Wilkins), who were only in the first two movies.

Joining them are the original film’s Dave Sheridan (Doofy Gilmore) and Cheri Oteri’s Gail Hailstorm, who didn’t appear in any other sequels.

The first trailer for Scary Movie 6 has landed and teases parodies of modern horror films including Scream VI, M3GAN, Wednesday, Ma, Sinners, Get Out, Smile, Weapons, Longlegs, The Substance and Terrifier 3.

The film’s official synopsis reads: “Twenty-six years after outrunning a suspiciously familiar masked killer (Ghostface), the Core Four are back in the killer’s crosshairs and no horror movie IP is safe. Marlon Wayans (Shorty), Shawn Wayans (Ray), Anna Faris (Cindy), and Regina Hall (Brenda) reunite in Scary Movie alongside returning favourites and fresh faces to slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every ‘final chapter’ that absolutely isn’t final. Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture.”

Scary Movie 6 hits cinemas on June 12, 2026.
