Shoppers devote 97 million hours hunting for Black Friday deals
Black Friday shoppers are set to spend a whopping 97 million hours collectively hunting for the best deals.
A survey of 2,000 adults revealed that 62% can’t resist a good bargain, with over a quarter (26%) even making a list of items they’re keen to snap up.
To ensure they bag the best deal, Black Friday participants will typically scour an average of four different websites before adding an item to their basket. Interestingly, a savvy 22% plan to create new email accounts to receive multiple discount codes.
The research also disclosed that the typical shopper expects to have five tabs open simultaneously – a tactic which has led to 27% experiencing a device crash in previous years.
A spokesperson for HONOR, who commissioned the study to celebrate the launch of its Magic V3 phone, said: “Brits love a bargain and Black Friday is the perfect opportunity for savvy shoppers to bag a good deal and kick-start their Christmas shopping.”
“The research shows people will go to great lengths to ensure they are going away with the best offer possible.”
“The key is to plan ahead and make the most of what’s on offer – whether you’re hunting for the latest tech, fashion, or home essentials.”
The study also discovered that a quarter of those who shop the Black Friday deals have utilised price comparison sites to hunt for the best bargains. While a good 15% have even stayed awake until midnight for a sale or promotion to start, and 11% have taken advantage of multiple devices.
A frugal 39% tend to set aside funds prior to the Black Friday season to make their purchases. With many prepared to cut back on spending such as dining out, takeaway coffees, and subscription services in order to save for a significant purchase.
