Sky News was abruptly halted as Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, saying “time is running out” for Iran to make a deal as the war wages on. Bringing viewers up to date, the host read the US leader’s post aloud, which said: “Remember when I gave Iran 10 days to make a deal or open up the Hormuz Strait. Time is running out. 48 hours before all hell will reign down on them. Glory be to God! President Donald J Trump.”

Middle East commentator Tara Kangarlou added her analysis on the post, telling Sky News viewers: “Indeed, and another moment we see unfold on social media, this war, unlike any other, is playing with rhetoric and narratives, and this is at a time where some of Iran’s major sites have been hit.” She added: “This story is fast-moving.” The show’s host then noted how Trump “made no reference to the missing [American] pilot or the damage done”.

Military analyst Sean Bell then spoke up about the latest Truth Social post from Trump. He said: “That 10 days to my memory is up on April 6, in other words, 40 hours’ time. Almost certainly, the tides of this conflict seem to be moving against America.

“It seems Iran, despite being absolutely beaten down by America’s military might, if you look at it through an objective lens at the moment, Iran is gaining influence.”

The expert added: “They are gaining authority. I think this post… If Donald Trump starts to reign hell and damnation on the electrical generating, that will be alienating the people even if it is legal.”

The post comes after Iran claimed to have shot down two US planes, one being an F-15E and a second being an A-10 Warthog.

According to Iran’s state-affiliated IRNA news agency, spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari said Friday was a “humiliation” for America, crediting new “domestically-produced” air defence systems. He also said Iran will “surely achieve full control of our country’s skies”.

Sky News viewers were quick to comment on the update, with one writing on X: “Hang on half a minute, I thought they were begging for a deal?”

Another said: “He’s already issued ultimatums and hinted at serious consequences if Iran doesn’t act soon.” A third added: “They’ve said multiple times they are not making a deal and for America to bring it on. What is Trump playing at? Just withdraw.”
