Stormzy caught up in Celtic protest chaos after watching Rangers win | Football | Sport

Celtic players faced a barrage of insults as they exited Parkhead following their derby defeat, with even renowned rapper Stormzy getting caught up in the heated aftermath. The Hoops suffered a 3-1 loss to arch-rivals Rangers, who subsequently drew level with them in the Scottish Premiership standings. Furious fans lingered long after the final whistle to express their disappointment at the team’s performance and protest the current state of the club.

As the players departed the stadium, with metal barriers set up for their exit, Liam Scales led the procession while furious supporters hurled expletives, with Auston Trusty, Yang, and the injured Jota following closely behind. Skipper Callum McGregor attempted to ignore the vitriol, with Kieran Tierney and Alistair Johnston, both also nursing injuries, trailing behind him.

James Forrest, the injured Cameron Carter-Vickers and Anthony Ralston all left amid shouts from one fan demanding “Someone apologise’ and another said ” and another declaring “admit it’s not good enough”.

Music sensation Stormzy, who was spotted at the match, exited through an entrance on the opposite side of the stadium to chants of “Stormzy get to f***” and “Stormzy sack the board”. Thousands of fans had congregated at the front door of Parkhead immediately after the game to voice their anger at the board.

Manager Wilfried Nancy said: “I can understand that. I think that they were behind us the first half, they pushed us in a good way. And after that, I can understand why they’re disappointed regarding the fact that we had many possibilities to win the game.

“I know that I repeat myself, but it happened in the past also regarding many games. And I think that they really enjoyed the first half. They saw a team, players that they were giving everything with the ball and without the ball. So they see the direction that we want to go but in a consistent way, you know, for 95 minutes.

“After that, the fact that I know the meaning of this game—I know that—and the disappointment for them. But what I can tell them is what we did during the first half and also at certain moments in the second half, this is what we want to do. But at the same time, we know that we can’t accept, we cannot accept to concede goals like this. We know that. And this is something that we’re going to work on.”
