A dominating race in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay secured Team USA its first gold medal of the Paris Olympics. Katie Ledecky also won her first medal of the games. It was a wet start for athletes outside the pool too, with downpours drenching the beach volleyball and cycling tournaments, and raising questions about the cleanliness of the Seine for future competitions.
