England have won the fourth Ashes Test in Australia to avoid a whitewash in the series. Ben Stokes’ side secured a four-wicket victory in just two days in Melbourne, the second Test of the series to be that short. 

The winning runs came from Harry Brook’s thigh pad, sparking scenes of celebration from the travelling Barmy Army. The win sees England reduce the deficit to 3-1, going into the final test in Sydney next week. 

An Ashes victory in Australia has proved elusive to England for some time with the last one coming back in 2011, a wait of almost 15 years. It’s the first victory on Australian soil for the likes of Stokes and Joe Root. 

While eyes for the players will be on the final test as they look to secure victory again, England fans will be revelling in the win.
