The world’s most expensive train journey that costs nearly £3k a night for one person | World | News
An eye-wateringly expensive train journey where passengers can travel in extreme luxury exists in India, knocking the UK’s pricey train fares out of the park.
The Maharajas’ Express, regarded as the world’s most luxurious ways to travel by rail, offers an unbeatable opportunity to make your way through India like a royal.
The train runs on four routes, passing a total of 10 fabulous destinations across the north-west and central areas of the country.
It’s best-known for operating in the royal state of Rajasthan. The opulent train has a total of 23 carriages but prices vary depending on what package frivilous guests opt for.
The four-day Treasures of India trip in a Deluxe Cabin will set customers back £3,848, while the Presidential Suite during the week-long Indian Spendour trip will cost an incredible £19,589 – the small fortune big enough for a deposit on a house.
Travellers can catch the train from the capital city Delhi before heading to Agra on the banks of the Yamuna river. It is here that passengers can hop out to visit the Taj Mahal.
The route then takes passengers on a trip to Agra Fort and Ranthambore National Park before heading towards the pink city of Jaipur.
Next stops are Bikaner and Jodhpur, before arriving at the final destination of Mumbai. However before terminating, the train makes a stop at Udaipur where there is the chance to take a boat ride on lake Pichola.
The Maharajas’ Express is an amazing place to eat. There are two fine dining restaurants to choose from, one of which is called the “Mayur Mahal” and is named after India’s national bird, the peacock, also known as Mayur.
The other is called “Rang Mahal,” or “Palace of Colours,” which even has a hand-painted fresco ceiling. Besides the restaurants, the ‘Safari Bar’ and ‘Rajah Club’ are available for guests that fancy a tipple.
And when it’s time to start work and stop plau, business travellers can use the Safari Bar’s meeting space.
